Ride Oklahoma Banquet Report

Pearl & I attended the "Ride Oklahoma" banquet this past Saturday night. It was held at the "Omniplex" in Oklahoma City this year. The setting was much nicer than the previous venue. There were in excess of three hundred people there. There were lots of door prizes given out, bike covers, t-shirts, tie-downs, hats, etc. They awarded $2500 in cash prizes. The grand prize was $1500 awarded to one lucky winner and ten $100 dollar bills were also awarded to ten winners. Unfortunately the only thing we won was a t-shirt. However the food was great and we had a good time. The big news at least to me was that they have discontinued the "Ride Oklahoma" but the ride continues with a new name, "The Oklahoma Grand Tour". So apparently "Ride Oklahoma" is not dead, it has been renamed. Details were a little sketchy, they will release the information about the new ride in April. If I'm not mistaken in the details, the ride we've heard about sponsored by the Stillwater Honda dealer is a different ride than this. This ride will still be sponsored by Oklahoma Honda-Suzuki and Chuck Cantwell indicated the grand prize might be upped from the $1500 it has been. I'm glad to hear it as I've enjoyed the "Ride Oklahoma", it has encouraged us to travel a lot of miles and see a lot of things we might not have seen on our own. Bill Patterson needs to complete the ride, with his luck he can make money. Lets go Ridin!!!
