The Meeting Begins - A Little Late
Grant got our attention, just a few minutes later than usual. Guess he was talking too much himself and he didn’t want to appear to be rude by telling himself and everyone else to stop talking. Once Grant was finished with his conversation, then he asked Sam to do the honors. Sam led us in the Pledge of Allegiance. The meeting is now underway.
Kathy and Her T-Shirts
The T-Shirt issue maintains itself on the agenda. Kathy spoke about all the options available - way too many choices for our full stomachs to digest right now. She now would like us to indicate on a piece of paper going around what items you want on your shirt - name, what graphic in what location, front, back, side, sleeves, etc.
Kathy was getting so excited about these new shirts that her hands were talking way more than her mouth. Those hands were saying that payment might be needed when ordering, since we are ordering so few shirts.
Smitty showed off his old Chapter shirt with the angel on it as another example of other options.
Picnic Sign-Ups
Kathy also passed around another piece of paper for everyone to sign-up for what items they are bringing to the picnic tables on Saturday, May 3rd.
Upcoming Rides for Chapter “A”
Bill called Grant before the meeting to let him announce to our group that they have two rides planned. A Dinner Ride to that catfish place in Waurika and another ride to Acadia. Their rides do fall on the same days which we have something already scheduled. But these are available for you to participate with them if you wish.
CPR Classes w/Chapter “A”
Bill is trying to put together a CPR class in the Altus or Granite area. There is someone at the Granite Prison that will be teaching the class. If interested email Grant or Wes.
Sports!
Grant was sad to note that he forgot tonight was a National Championship basketball game. He lets us know which two teams were playing and at what exact time the game begins.
Doy and Darliene Stand Up
Doy announces that in May they will be planning a trip to Beaver’s Bend. Then he says, “OK?” End of his lines! He sits down! So now Darliene has to stand to give us all the remaining details which is everything else that Doy didn’t mention one bit.
May’s Beaver’s Bend Ride Details
Beaver’s Bend Ride will be on May 10th and 11th even though that weekend is Mother’s Day. Single rooms are $37.99 plus tax. King or Queen is $42.99 plus tax. She thinks riding around the lake will give us some good enjoyable rides. Darliene asked who is planning to go so she can make reservations. Angie was able to take out her Oklahoma map to let a few of us know exactly where the Beaver is located. After a few minutes we end up with another list showing who wants a Queen, a King, or a Single. Darliene will send out an email letting us know of any further details.
They are planning on an early start - 7:00 am from Cracker Barrel on Saturday, May 10th.
Dinner Ride for April
Grant drew the restaurant name of Cross Timbers in Anadarko. This will meet at Cracker Barrel at 4:00 pm and head north to Porter Hill to pick up those fine folks living in the country.
Add More Dinner Places
Kathy asked if anyone had any restaurant location to add to the pot for future drawings.
April’s Saturday Ride to Robber’s Cave
Dave stood up to let us know we’ll be heading to Robber’s Cave State Park this Saturday. We’ll leave from Cracker Barrel at 8:00 am. Those needing breakfast need to get there earlier by 7:00 am. It’s going to be an all-day ride.
And Again, Dave!
Due to some people not paying attention, Grant asked Dave to stand up again to let all the others know where we are going. So, Dave does as suggested. The question was asked if we would be eating at Pete’s in Krebs. Dave said he has checked on that and Pete’s is not open during the day.
The June Ride with Sam and Angie
This will be a 2-day ride to Tahlequah area leaving on a Saturday in June. [ The dates have been set for June 14th and 15th. ] We will go to Owasso to the Cherokee Village and do some sightseeing in the Tahlequah area. The Cherokee people are putting together some of our itinerary. They have offered free passes to the Museum and some other attractions. The nice shock is they are offering us free rooms at their Casino and Motel in Catoosa about 40 miles away from Tahlequah. They will also provide an outdoor dinner theatre. This will be a good deal with very little cost.
Angie read an email from the Cherokee people listing all the attractions they could provide for us. They are trying to promote the Cherokee Village Heritage Center. She will have more details at next month’s meeting. [Again, the date of this ride has been set for June 14th and 15th.] If there are too many activities for that Saturday, we could do some of those things Sunday morning before heading back to Lawton.
Sam asks for hands of those interested in going. Many hands went up - after all how can we pass up free lodging and free passes to events and places?
Treasurer’s Report
Sam asked Wes if he was able to figure out all those one syllable words in Sam’s report in the newsletter. [ How is a Yankee” supposed to know some Indian words? ] Wes said “No”. Otherwise, we have in our Treasury a grand total of $575.94.
The GWRRA Number
This month’s winner normally doesn’t miss their number. Actually we wished their number came up last month when the GW number was worth $40. But this month they only lost $5. The number was located on page 7 in the Minutes where it says “two say ‘5106’ The one”. Meanwhile, Darliene is throwing stuff at Wes! Violence at a Chapter “L” Meeting - pure digust. Continuing on… Take that number, 251061, and turn it around to say “284300”.
The losers are Doy and Darliene. Yes!! We think everyone saw Darliene kicking Doy’s legs under the table. He looked at her and his face looked like it would be saying, “Why are you hitting me, you’re the one that always goes looking for the number each month, not me?”
One Free 50/50 Ticket for Each Website Message
Starting in April, one free 50/50 ticket will be presented to each person posting a new Message, placing pictures in an Album, or making a new Calendar Event. The Committee will meet irregularly to make the final decision if the subm, itted item is worthy of a free ticket. The total count will start on the first day of each month and end on the last day of the month.
Grant tells Wes to sit down. Tom quickly asks if Wes could remember the three things to remember when you get older. He can rember the second and the third one. This was an inside joke for those that didn’t go to the movie “The Bucket List”. Here’s the whole thing:
Three things to know when you get older:
1. never pass up a ********
2. never waste a **** **
3. never trust a ****
Going to the Marshall Rally
Tom blurts out that he and Paula will be going to Marshall for the 3-day Region H Rally. Grant reminded them to send in an article for the newsletter about themselves.
Wall Plaque
Grant pointed to the wall where the Christian Motorcycle Club has a little plaque hanging with some of the meeting times for their group. Grant asked if this would be something we should do. GWRRA already has some type of plaque available depending on what it says. The group agreed to move forward with this and Grant will have “Kathy jump right on this”.
There was some comment made about why Kathy has to do the work when Sam has the money and he’ll have to purchase it with our chapter money. Grant spoke right up to say, “Well, Sam actually works!” Well, that did it for Grant. The crowd went bonkers. Kathy’s eyes popped out of her sockets. Hope the dogs won’t mind sleeping outside their doghouse for the next week.
Freedom’s Thunder Motorcycle Safety Rally
Rich Huling gave the details about this motorcycle rally on Fort Sill. He discussed the different standards for DoD workers on Post compared with a civilian. Registration fee per person is $7 includes a free T-Shirt. It is encouraged that civilians take a safety course first but it is not required. DoD workers must have it. Food will be available after the 70 mile ride. Website:

Kawasaki Store Closing
This Saturday they are having a Close-Out Sale with things going for very low prices.
Maintenance Course at Great Plains
Bill Baxter said this class was just the basic things for motorcycles - two weeks two nights each week. Change the oil and other basic things one should know about maintaining one’s cycle. He also attended the Advance Safety Course which was very good. He encouraged everyone to take these courses.
50/50
Bill Baxter’s wife pulled out the winning ticket. Rich spoke to say, “7 and a zero, five and a two”. A loud scream, so much more louder than with a typical winning GWRRA Numbers in the newsletter, came from one table. At this table was Grant and Kathy. At this table you could see the scream of happiness came from Kathy! Hard to figure out why she was screaming. Grant paid for the tickets and he says he wins the big money! $40 was handed over to the winner. Grant has a nice wide grin on his face and a snickering chuckle to go with it
May Picnic Meeting
Grant reminded everyone the next meeting will be our Annual Picnic on Saturday, May 3rd. There will be no meeting at Golden Corral for May. We’ll return here in June.
The Carpet of Pearl
Wes asked Pearl what the status was with her free one-room carpet cleaning service she won at the Apache Bean Supper. At this time, she hadn’t even called them. We’re all curious to see if she will spend some money for a few extra rooms for this “FREE” service of one-room cleaning. It’s only money.
