The July Meeting Is Underway
Bill starts things off right by leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Jump, Jump, Jump - Hop, Hop, Hop
Right as everyone's hands were moving back down to their sides, there was this nervous commotion on the right side of the room right beside Joe. Joe said she was here to dance! Yes, folks, we have Jeannine doing a little bunny hop suggesting that she found Joe's number in the newsletter. The expression on her face was precious. One could see she was hoping this movement would suffice and qualify her to win the big money. She would do no more jumping up and down other this this simple little hop, hop, hop. End of embarrassment. She wins and so did Joe - a total of $10. Their number was on page 19 in the Videos title. Their number was backwards. Does Bill really haul around 945, 002 videos in his box every month?
Introductions of Guests and Visitors
Pearl brought her daughter, Christina. She recently graduated from college and will start a new career in Oklahoma City in a few weeks. Pearl is happy. Dave's face showed the extra financial income ahead that will stay in his hands.
Next, Jim Clower introduced he and his wife, Sharon. They are from Lawton. Sitting beside them, Bill Patterson announced his presence with his wife, Rhea. Sitting at the end of the other table were Tom and Paula Clouse from Lawton. They came to our Anniversary last month.
Introductions of Members
Since this was a holiday and the attendance was a little sparse, Bill asked everyone to introduce themselves for our visitors.
Upcoming Events
Bill reminded everyone to go support these other Chapters by visiting them at their celebrations and try to get to a few of their monthly meetings. He even plans on checking the internet as he travels on his vacation to see if any of his stops coincide with any local Chapter Meetings near his motel.
Birthdays and Anniversaries
July 21st Grant Byrns and Darliene Coapland. (Bill forgot to mention Mike Warren's birthday on July 8th.)
Bill and Kathi will have their anniversary tomorrow on July 4th.
Ride Oklahoma 9 Rides
Bill asked Dave what we are doing with the Ride. Dave said we haven't done much of anything lately. Our last ride was to the Oklahoma Panhandle area in April.
It was decided we would meet at Cracker Barrel this Saturday. At that time, we would decide as a group which destination to head toward. Departure time: 9:00 am. Meet at 8:30. Come earlier if you want to eat breakfast there.
Next Moonlight Ride
Wes gave a few details for the next Moonlight Ride for this coming Sunday night. Meet at 8:00 pm and leave at 8:30 pm. Rick said, "This better not be another one of those one-two o'clock in the morning." The stop we had was a long one (an hour and a half) compared to what we have done in the past.
Dinner/Movie Ride
Wes asked everyone which movie showing to go to - the early show at 6:00 pm or the later one at 8:30/9:00 pm? After a little discussion on the different times to leave, the consensus was to head out for the early show. So, this means we need to assemble at 5:30 pm, leave at 5:45 pm from Cracker Barrel.
====================
New development since this meeting: Due to the longer length of two movies (Pirates and Superman), the Carnegie movie theatre now has their first showing at 6:00 pm on the weekends. This probably will make it too hard for many to get ready to leave by 5:00 pm. Right? Be watching for email to see if you want the later showing at 8:30 pm - meaning a late ride back after 11:15 pm or so.
====================
Bill suggested that we think of going to other places for variations - Altus, Duncan, different places, different theatres.
Joe Suggests a Destination for Saturday's Ride
Joe mentioned that he and Jeannine will be going to the Noodlin Championships in Paul's Valley. He thinks this might be a good spot to go to for our Saturday ride. Paul's Valley is one of the stops for Ride Oklahoma at the Bedre's Chocolate Factory. Dave thought that sounded pretty good. We'll still get a group feeling Saturday morning before leaving.
Mail Call
Bill receives quite a bit of mail from other cycle oriented companies. He read a letter from one such company, F4 Customs Windshield, from Aurora, Ohio. They're a new company specializing in GL1500 and GL1800 windshields which is so tough it resists scratching … even with steel wool. Website: www.f4customs.com.
Speakers for Meetings
Wes had emailed Bill that an ANPAC Cycle Insurance agent was interested in speaking to our group about the advantages with ANPAC. Bill said there was no problem having anyone come to our meeting to help us save money. Wes will make contact with the agent to schedule a visit from him.
Stop & Think
Bill reminded us to continue to think about how to spice up the Chapter again. What can your Officers do, what can the members do? We need input, bring other people to the meetings or to the rides. Just keep this in the back of your mind.
We need to look at some of our old members who have quit coming. Perhaps a phone call to see how they are doing with a friendly "Where are ya?" comments.
Drawing for a Mug
Seven One Zero Zero - the magic numbers. After a long delay, Rick was the winner of a coffee mug.
Officer Thoughts
Dave: The Website
It is undergoing yet another modification. Everyone who is a member, go ahead and register. Get yourself a user name and a password. It's important when you go to register is to pick a user name that makes it easy for everyone else to know who you are. We'd like you to use your normal first name and last name, if possible. Once you are registered and verified by the Administrator, you can login to type in new messages and new events.
Once everything is running smooth, Dave will be handing over the web page duties to Wes.
Bill: Chapter T-Shirts
The t-shirts are ready. Bill and Kathi went today to pick our order up, but the store was closed! So, it will be Wednesday at the earliest before he can pick them up. He will give everyone a call to see how best to get them to you. he will get them to you before he leaves for Wyoming and points beyond.
Wes: September Meeting Date
Our scheduled meeting date in September is Monday, Sept. 4th. It's a holiday - Labor Day. CG's International will be open that holiday, so we could still meet as usual. A vote was taken to see if anyone wanted to change to a different day that month. Mumble, mumble, mumble. Bill asked who didn't care if we have the meeting on the holiday. Mumble, mumble, mumble. Bill asked who wanted to have the meeting on a different date. Mumble, mumble, mumble. Enough mumbling, Bill made the executive decision to have our September meeting as scheduled - the first Monday of the month on Labor Day.
Bill (again): CG's Menu - the Short or the Long of It
Bill mentioned that CG's was going to provide us with a shortened menu when we first started coming here. Apparently, the owner decided that he could handle our orders okay since we all drift in at varying times. Bill's not liking the way things are so slow.
Joe: The Oklahoma District Rally Report
He gave a brief recap of everything that happened at the Oklahoma State Rally - from our COY Basket, other Chapter's COY Baskets, the Basket rules, the winner of our Basket, etc. Next year's Oklahoma District Rally will be in October 6, 7, and 8, 2007. Appropriately, the theme has been named "Hallo-Wing". It's going to be goolish.
Bill (and again): District Level Communications
Bill digressed into the fact that communications between District level to Chapter level sometimes gets lost or is non-existant. The director, Rick Greninger, is thinking about having local Chapter representatives attend District meetings. He's looking for volunteers. Bill said he would be interested in representing Chapter "L". If anyone else is interested, let Bill know. Several can go, it doesn't have to be just one person.
GWRRA Information
Bill told the guests not to leave without getting some GWRRA information and a complimentary Wing World magazine.
50/50
